Turning Personal Experiences into Collective Knowledge

Every psychedelic experience is unique, but when experiences are shared without displaying a username, they can contribute to a much broader understanding of psychedelics and their effects.

Our research ambitions

The information voluntarily contributed by users of this platform may, in the future and subject to a clearly explained consent process, be used to support research into psychedelic experiences, helping to identify patterns, improve understanding and inform evidence-based harm-reduction approaches.

By bringing together individual experiences, we hope to develop a richer picture of the factors that influence psychedelic journeys, including preparation, mindset, setting, dosage, effects, challenges and longer-term outcomes.

Over time, insights drawn from this collective information may help researchers, educators and harm-reduction organisations develop better resources, improve public understanding and identify ways to reduce the potential risks associated with psychedelic use.

Your experience matters. What one person learns through experience may contribute to knowledge that helps others make more informed decisions.

Our commitment is to treat contributed information responsibly, respect user privacy and use shared experiences to support learning, research and the development of safer, more informed approaches to psychedelics.

This page explains our ambitions; it does not enrol you in research or introduce any new data collection or external data-sharing arrangements. Sharing a story is not consent to a future research programme.

Participation in any future research must be voluntary. Before deciding, you should receive clear information about what would be used, the purpose, who would have access, and your choices, so you can give informed consent.

Stories on Inner Atlas are public, but your username is not displayed alongside them. New entries are privately linked to your account so you can edit them. This is pseudonymous sharing, not guaranteed anonymity: details in your writing may identify you, and hosting and account services may keep security logs.

Because stories are publicly readable, others may read or reuse their content outside Inner Atlas’s control. Avoid personal details you do not want to make public.

Together, we can turn individual experiences into collective knowledge.
